Marvelous Minestrone

Saute in oil in a large pot:
1 cup chopped onion
2 minced garlic cloves

Add these spices: 1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil

Add 1 cup each: diced carrots, sliced celery, sliced zucchini, chopped tomato

Add 2 cans of chicken broth
1 can garbanzo beans
1 can tomato paste
3/4 cup uncooked elbow macaroni OR shells

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer 30 minutes. Great with some grated cheese on top and crusty french bread (but then, so is anything!)

While you're at it, make it vegetarian all the way with vegetable broth instead.
